If you’ve been around the wedding industry in Charlotte (or anywhere for that matter!), you’ve definitely heard about our next wedding vendor in our Spotlight Series– Lindsey Regan Thorne and her team at Be Pretty!
Lindsey, Charisse, and Sabrina are all completely fabulous and have a real eye for the classic and romantic! You can check out a few of our past brides (Meredith + Maribeth) that the team at Be Pretty have worked with!
I (Rachel) have also had first hand experience working with Charisse for a make-up lesson, and I highly recommend it! Charisse was so so helpful and fun that it really just felt like sitting with a friend who happens to know A LOT more about make-up than you. We used some of our own products, but were also free to use hers which was so fun to try new things with her guidance.
Even though you’ve probably seen their work before (and it is beautiful!), we wanted to give you a chance to learn a little more about them behind the scenes– so read on!
What do you love about being a makeup artist?
Lindsey: I am so passionate about making others feel loved and beautiful. There’s nothing I love more than spending a wedding day with a bride and helping her get ready for one of the most special days of her life.
Charisse: Every face is different! I get to create something new with each client which keeps things fresh and unique.
Sabrina: Making other people feel beautiful! HANDS DOWN!
List three words that describe you.
Lindsey: Passionate, calm and loving.
Charisse: Bubbly, dreamer, blonde 🙂
Sabrina: Bubbly, energetic, silly
What are you most likely doing on a weekend off?
Lindsey: You can find me chasing my one year old and four year old around at the pool or the park. On days off my hubby takes the family out for a “family date night”. He’s taught my little boy to open and close my car door. It’s pretty sweet. We just love spending time together as a family.
Charisse: Baking and cuddling with my baby puppy, Gracie.
Sabrina: Go to Charleston!
If you weren’t a makeup artist, what would you want to be?
Lindsey: Well, before I started Be Pretty, I was an interior designer. So, I knocked that one off the list (haha!). If I were to start all over again, I would say something in children’s health.
Charisse: I’d love to own an online clothing boutique.
Sabrina: Interior Designer or Pop Star, haha
What is your favorite part of a wedding day?
Lindsey: So many favorite parts of the wedding day… I love watching the girls sing, dance and sip champagne as the day kicks off. My most favorite part is when the bride looks in the mirror after her beauty is all complete.
Charisse: I’d say it’s right when I’m doing final touch ups on the bride and her friends and family are all gathered around admiring and getting her excited for the big day. It’s such a special moment!
Sabrina: girl time! best part!
What is your favorite wedding cake flavor?
Lindsey: GIVE ME ALL THE CAKE! Any cake… and extra icing! 😉
Charisse: Can I trade cake for churros and ice cream? 🙂
Sabrina: hard question… does lemon poppyseed count?
What are your 3 holy grail makeup products?
Lindsey:Becca Soft Light Blurring Powder, Bronzer (any kind… I’ll make it work) and MAC Fluidline eyeliner!
Charisse: All time faves are Tarte Smooth Operator Setting Powder, Buxom Lip Cream in Pink Champagne and L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara
Sabrina: hourglass lighting powder, charlotte tilbury bronzer, and any cheap mascara
What’s it like to work with you from initial meeting to walking down the aisle?
Lindsey: So much quality time that we’ll spend the initial emails, phone consults, to engagements, trials, bridals and the wedding day! Sometimes showers and rehearsal too! We love our time with our brides and her family! THE BEST! We cater to our brides. Although we’re makeup and hair artists, half the time on the wedding day, you’ll find me buckling the bride’s shoes. Our services go beyond slapping some color on the face and pinning the hair up. We truly invest in our brides, and we want them to look and feel their absolute best!
What advice would you give a bride about choosing her bridal makeup and hair?
Lindsey: Get to know them! Follow them on social media and make sure you like their personality before hiring. You’ll spend the majority of your wedding day getting pampered by your beauty team, and you want to make sure your personality meshes well with theirs.
Charisse: My biggest piece of advice I could give is to listen to your gut! Style your hair and makeup how you feel most confident and try not to let others’ opinions change your mind.
Sabrina: Don’t over think it, go with what you have imagined looking like for the longest time. Pinterest is an amazing, but can also be a stressful tool.
What would you say to the bride who is on the fence about hiring a makeup artist?
Lindsey: Do it! The last thing you’ll want to do on the wedding day is your makeup + hair. Enjoy the pampering experience and trust a professional. A professional makeup + hair artist will make sure your makeup will last through the day and into the evening. You’ll never regret having your makeup + hair done!
Charisse: On your wedding day there are so many nerves and last minute details that the last thing you want to be worried about is your hair and makeup. It’s all about trying to relax before the ceremony and photos and let us take care of the hairspray and lashes 🙂
Sabrina: YOU WILL NOT REGRET! In my opinion this is the most important decision. If you don’t feel good about how you look, everything else just doesn’t feel quite right.
What is the best piece of advice you have for a couple regarding their wedding?
Lindsey: Stay focused on the most important part of your wedding, and that’s each other! At the end of the day, you’re there to get married. Have fun and soak it in… don’t get lost in the little details!
Charisse: Slow it down, don’t get caught up in the details and have fun!
Sabrina: Remember it’s about you two and the story of your love! Don’t get caught up in all the madness! It goes by SO fast, so soak every moment in.
