Where are you located?
While we call Charlotte home, we travel all over the SouthEast and beyond! We love adventure and are available for national and international travel.
How long have you been photographing weddings?
Nearly a decade and we have no intentions of slowing down any time soon!
How many weddings do you do a year?
We only take on between 10-12 weddings a year.
We’d like to think that we care as much about your wedding day as you do. By accepting only a handful of weddings each year, we’re able to devote more time to each couple. We meet with you before your wedding to plan out your photography schedule, coach you on what will make great photographs, work with you so you’re comfortable in front of our cameras, and make ourselves generally available to share our years of wedding experience with you as needed. We truly enjoy the experience of meeting new people and being part of their milestones.
What are your strengths as photographers?
We both have very extensive professional backgrounds working with people. We’d like to think that we can tell what makes people tick and realize that being in front of the camera can be a vulnerable and sometimes awkward experience, so we do whatever it takes to make you feel relaxed– Consider us a judgement free zone! We are there to help you through the vulnerability so we can capture the real you!
You’ll see lots of smiles, laughter, and emotion in our photographs. We do this by design! We structure our photo sessions to be relaxed, carefree, and fun. We want the space to be a collaborative space where you can be honest and our cameras can get to know you a bit. A lot of our clients tell us their session feels like a fun double date with friends.
We also really value getting to know our couples and their families. By the time your wedding day comes, we’ve met, shared wedding stories, organized your details, and gotten to know each other. When we arrive on your wedding day, we know your personalities. We know your senses of humor and know what’s needed to make you really shine on camera.
What is your shooting style?
We like to think of ourselves as “Moment Photographers.” We’re always looking for those special little moments of a wedding day.
Chris is a no holds bar camera shooter. He’s typically getting right up in the action grabbing shots of people in the moment. He’s not afraid to do what it takes to get the shot. Chris is passionate about capturing emotion, creating beautiful portraits, and getting those dynamic action shots.
Rachel is the sneaky one. You’ll most likely see her (or not see her) hiding in the bushes getting the shot when no one knows she’s even there. She is also passionate about capturing all the pretty little details of a wedding (flowers, rings, shoes, etc…), so she spends a lot of time with her macro lens.
What is your editing style?
Even though we primarily shoot digital, that “film look” is what we are going for. We edit our work with a custom workflow to create images that have that iconic “film look.” Our goal is to emulate real film stock that are used by fellow professionals today. We love the analog look. It’s an authentic feel and we believe something special was lost when photographers originally moved over to digital. We love a very shallow depth of field (soft focus) and film grain–it makes us really happy inside!
Our favorite images are black and white. So, you’ll notice a lot of B&W duplicates in your wedding collection.
Some words our clients have used to describe our work are: light, airy, timeless.
Can I have the RAW files?
We do not give out RAW files. Even though we’ve been doing this for years, not every image is a keeper. Even as professionals we get some not so flattering shots. But hear us when we say that we aren’t holding out on you! If an image is usable and of good quality, then we edit it and it goes in your photo collection.
With that said, we realize that some moments are just nice to have (i.e. those awkward fun moments before your make-up is complete, or the goofy things that happen towards the end of the reception). Even if the shot wouldn’t really be a portfolio piece, if the moment is just special, it goes in your photo collection.
How long does it take to receive my images?
We estimate that it will take between 4-6 weeks and weddings between 8-10 weeks. In all our years, we’ve never gone past that 10 week mark.
We edit our own work and retouch every image. Because quality is our aim, we only release the images when we are completely satisfied that they are truly ready to be enjoyed.
How do I receive my images?
We deliver your images through a private online portal. You’ll receive your photo collection link via email as soon as your photos are completed. Your images will remain on the site for at least 6 months. From the site, you can download digital files, order prints & make albums.
What is your booking policy?
All bookings are on a first come first served basis. We also require both a signed contract and deposit in order to secure a wedding date. Click Here to read more about the steps after booking us.
Note: The deposit is a percentage of your overall total, not an extra fee.
Can I give you a shot list?
We do not ask for shot lists because during our years of capturing weddings, we’ve noticed that shot lists are more counter productive than really useful. As photographers, we really shine when we are able to capture moments as they happen instead of being focused on a specific shot list. But don’t worry, we know to get the kiss and all those other special moments.
We will however talk extensively with your about your wedding day before so that we are prepared for those little things that are unique to your story. We will also ask for a list of family formal photos.
Can I share my images on social media?
Yes! Please do! It’s not required, but we would really appreciate it if you tag us in the photo.
